Chicago Wins Midway Classic Title
CHICAGO -- Tournament MVP sophomore Steve Stefanou (Cincinnati, Ohio/ St. Xavier) scored 16 points to help lead the University of Chicago men's basketball team to a 79-60 win over the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the championship game of the Midway Classic Sunday evening at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Maroons Win Midway Classic
CHICAGO -- Led by tournament most valuable player, senior Molly Hackney (East Lansing, Mich./ Lansing Catholic), the 14th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team defeated Coe College 64-57 in the championship game of the Midway Classic Sunday at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Chicago Wins Phoenix Fall Classic
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team won the eight-team Phoenix Fall Classic Friday through Sunday at the Myers-McLoraine Pool. Sophomore Tara Levens (Palo Alto, Calif./ Gunn) posted NCAA Division III provisional-qualifying times in three events.

Maroons Win Phoenix Fall Classic
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team won the eight-team Phoenix Fall Classic Friday through Sunday at the Myers-McLoraine Pool. Junior Ed Wagner (Sheboygan, Wis./ South) (pictured) and freshman Charles Du (Richmond Heights, Md./ Clayton) posted NCAA Division III provisional-qualifying times in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.42) and 200-yard butterfly (1:54.66), respectively.

Troy Carlson Wins 197-lb. Title at Concordia Open
MEQUON, Wis. -- University of Chicago senior Troy Carlson (Cary, Ill./ Cary-Grove) captured the 197-pound title Saturday at the Concordia (Wis.) University Wrestling Open. Carlson won four matches all by decision, including an 11-8 victory over the nation's seventh-ranked 197-pounder in the title bout.

Kendra Higgins, Chrissy Hu Win NCAA Doubles Championship (5/24/09)
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- University of Chicago sophomore Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) and freshman Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) won the doubles title at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Higgins and Hu became the first Maroons to claim NCAA Division III women's tennis individual titles.

Claire Ray Nets Three All-America Performances (5/23/09)
MARIETTA, Ohio -- University of Chicago junior Claire Ray (Park Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius) (pictured) earned her third All-America award of the weekend on the third and final day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Ray finished fourth in the shot put competition with a 13.94-meter distance. Sophomore Stephanie Omueti (Chicago, Ill./ Whitney Young) joined Ray as an All-American after finishing eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.39 seconds.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The University of Chicago captured fourth place at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship after dropping a 5-1 decision to Emory University in the third-place match Thursday at the Collins Hill Tennis Club.

Nicole Murphy Earns All-America Women's Track & Field Honors (3/14/09)
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- University of Chicago junior Nicole Murphy (Coppell, Texas/ Coppell) turned in an All-America performance on the second and final day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Murphy placed seventh in the shot put competition with a distance of 13.68 meters.

Swimming & Diving Trains in Costa Rica (12/29/08)
CHICAGO -- During this year's winter break, the University of Chicago men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will travel to San Jose, Costa Rica, to train and compete in the warmth of Central America. While there, the team plans to send a daily blog of the trip written by first-year students, Lelia Glass and Zach Lain.
