Europe Tour Update
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago softball team will embark on its second international tour, a three-nation trek in Europe, beginning Saturday, June 14. The Maroons will visit Holland, Belgium, and Germany during the 11-day tour, the program's second in five years. Chicago traveled to Australia in the summer of 2005.

Athletics Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2009
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago announced today the seventh induction class of the University's Athletics Hall of Fame. The eight honorees will be formally inducted on Friday evening, Oct. 23, 2009, as part of Chicago's Homecoming Celebration.

Kendra Higgins, Chrissy Hu Win NCAA Doubles Championship
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- University of Chicago sophomore Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) and freshman Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) won the doubles title at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Higgins and Hu became the first Maroons to claim NCAA Division III women's tennis individual titles.

Claire Ray Notches Third All-America Performance
MARIETTA, Ohio -- University of Chicago junior Claire Ray (Park Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius) (pictured) earned her third All-America award of the weekend on the third and final day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Ray finished fourth in the shot put competition with a 13.94-meter distance. Sophomore Stephanie Omueti (Chicago, Ill./ Whitney Young) joined Ray as an All-American after finishing eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.39 seconds.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The University of Chicago captured fourth place at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship after dropping a 5-1 decision to Emory University in the third-place match Thursday at the Collins Hill Tennis Club.

Nicole Murphy Earns All-America Honors at Division III Championship
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- University of Chicago junior Nicole Murphy (Coppell, Texas/ Coppell) turned in an All-America performance on the second and final day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Murphy placed seventh in the shot put competition with a distance of 13.68 meters.

Maroons Win UAA Championship
CLEVELAND -- Led by five conference champions, the University of Chicago wrestling team won the 2009 University Athletic Association Championship Saturday at Case Western Reserve University. Chicago defeated New York University 21-13 and host Case 37-10 in dual match competition to claim the school's 13th UAA title since the league's inaugural event in 1988.

Maroons Train in Costa Rica
During this year's winter break, the University of Chicago men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will travel to San Jose, Costa Rica, to train and compete in the warmth of Central America. While there, the team plans to send a daily blog of the trip written by first-year students, Lelia Glass and Zach Lain.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Freshman goalkeeper Emma Gormley (Carmel, Ind./ Carmel) made one save and scored the deciding goal in the penalty kick shootout as the University of Chicago women's soccer team advanced past Calvin College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Saturday afternoon. |

Maroons Reclaim Founders Cup
CHICAGO -- Freshman tailback Francis Adarkwa (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) rushed for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the University of Chicago defeated Washington (Mo.) University 17-14 in University Athletic Association football action Saturday at Stagg Field. With the victory, Chicago regained possession of the Founders Cup, which has been awarded to the Chicago-Washington winner annually since 1987. The Maroons last won the cup in 2005.
