The University of Chicago Athletics Hall of Fame was established in October 2000 to recognize and honor men and women who have distinguished themselves and the University in the field of intercollegiate athletics, or who have contributed to the development of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Chicago.

Inductees are selected by a committee comprised of University of Chicago faculty, staff and alumni. Twenty-five individuals were chosen for the inaugural class in 2003. No more than eight individuals will be selected on an annual basis in future years.

Induction Criteria

  • Former student-athletes must meet three criteria:
    (1) attended the University; (2) competed in an intercollegiate sport; (3) completed their participation in intercollegiate sports a minimum of five years prior to induction.
  • Coaches or administrators must also have ceased service in that capacity at least five years prior to induction.
