We started our day off with a wonderful hotel breakfast, with Nutella waffles being the biggest hit. Then we headed to the outer Brisbane limits for a multi-tiered ferry ride over to North Stradbroke Island, affectionately called "Straddie" by the locals. A quaint coffee shop got everyone ready and caffeinated for the ride, and a rainbow greeted us on our departure. We were Julie the bus driver's "good luck charms," as our time getting on the ferry was her smoothest entrance yet. It was a beautiful morning, with smooth waters and sunny skies, a slight breeze and the smell of salt in the air. On our hike over the island, we took pictures on the rock cliffs by the ocean, saw wild kangaroos with little joeys, photographed colorful parrots, learned about Australian plant life, and collected sea shells in little ocean pools. Post hike, we enjoyed gelato in a little island shop, and stopped at Skip's Snack Bar for fish and chips before leaving for the mainland. It was litty.
Fun Australia Fact of the Day: Ketchup is called tomato sauce.
