Softball Update from Australia (June 16)

Day 6

As our time in Brisbane comes to a close, it is our pleasure to bring you a trip update. Brought to you by UCSB News, your trusted UChicago Softball Broadcast. We felt that a video blog would be a nice summary of our events in Brisbane. Due to technical difficulties (wifi in Cairns), stay tuned for the video link.

It had been an eventful five days, full of visiting the Australia Zoo, hand-feeding kangaroos, rock climbing the gorge at the Gold Coast, exploring Brisbane, and the Botanic Gardens. It was incredible to watch these women play against a strong Australian team, and it was even more enjoyable to listen to the conversations being had; a true learning experience for all.

Through day six, we began preparing for our travel endeavors. Cairns was shortly upon us. We started the day with breaky, a team photo, and free time to wander the city, also intertwined with player interviews on how things are going thus far. These interviews continued on through our time at the airport. We finished the night with our year-end Senior Dinner. The fourth years and staff ventured to a restaurant located pier side in Cairns. All was well with a healthy amount of seafood, steak, and kangaroo; alongside much talk and laughter. Many of us were able to cook our meals on hot rocks, which was stressful at timesm as we did not want to over cook our delicious cuts.

It is our pleasure to share with you a news report from our trip this far. We hope you enjoy! Cheers!
