My most memorable moment as a University of Chicago athlete
"On May 18, 1942 we played the University of Michigan. I went nine innings and lost 3-1. A couple of the players on the U of M team congratulated me. It was my best effort. I went in to the Army in March of 1943 and that was the end of my career."
