Memories
of being a student-athlete I would like to share
"Know the rules! At the 1953 Chicago Collegiate Golf
Conference in Niles I cautioned a fellow competitor from University
of Illinois at Chicago that if his ball played from a sand bunker
struck his partner's ball on the green a 2-stroke penalty would
be incurred. He played (it was starting to rain). He had to take
the penalty, and the Maroons won by one (contested) stroke, confirmed
when the course professional read the USGA rule book."
