How my student-athlete experience prepared me for where I am today
"I learned not only about tennis but about life from Coach Hebert and the tennis greats of that day - the Murphy twins, Cal Sawyer, John and Charles Shostrom and so on."

My most memorable moment as a University of Chicago athlete
"I remember winning a doubles match at Madison against the University of Wisconsin team with my partner, Dick Fein. I also remember how Coach Derr (U-High athletics) introduced me to the sport of squash which I learned about in the West Stands courts where the first chain reaction took place. Squash became my sport for at least the next 50 years. Competition and camaraderie which sports brings carries out Harper's goal of a healthy mind in a healthy body which Stagg represented. In retirement I have shifted to golf as the sport but the Harper-Stagg standard has been my goal.
