My
most memorable moment as a University of Chicago athlete
"My most memorable moment was being awarded the
Conference Medal as scholar-athlete."
What
I am doing today, and how I got there
"I went to Ohio State University in 1938 and received
an M.S. in Physiology in 1940. I got my M.D. in 1943. I won the
Navy 3-meter diving championship in 1943. I served in the US Navy
from 1943-53 then went to the University of Southern California
in 1946 to get a PHD in aviation medicine. I competed in the 1948
Olympic trials and received 7th place in platform diving. I then
became a flight surgeon (private practice) in California from 1953-2001.
I competed in master's diving from 1976-2001 and earned over 160
national and world masters diving championships. Currently, I am
due for induction in the International Swimming Hall of Fame - Masters
Diving in August 2006." |
