Women's Basketball / Forward / Junior / Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Major: Political Science
Olariche Obi is a junior forward on the Maroon women's basketball team. Obi is currently ranked in the top 25 nationally in rebounding with 12.6 rebounds per game. She has tallied four double-doubles already this season, and is averaging 19 points and 14.5 rebounds per contest over the past week.
Head Coach Carissa Sain Knoche: "Ola has truly carried us with her rebounding effort. Over the last four games, she is averaging 14.5 rebounds per game. Last game, she grabbed 15 boards which put her over 500 rebounds for her career at Chicago. She is incredible to watch on the court with how hard she plays for the long stretches she’s in. Ola had a huge game in our win over a very good Elmhurst team. She went 10-16 from the floor, had two assists, three blocks and four steals. She played incredible on both ends. For me, great practices leading up to great performances are not pure coincidence. Ola earned every bit of her Elmhurst game last week with the way she approached practice. I can say without a doubt that Ola’s practices prior to Elmhurst were some of the best of her career!"
Teammate Miranda Burt: "Ola is such an integral part of our team. Every practice, she brings constant energy and sets the competitive edge for us. Ola creates offense, as well as dominates the boards, and is our defensive anchor. She is an extremely unselfish player and is always the first person to give a high five or congratulate anyone on our team. It’s incredibly fun to play with Ola because of her combination of talent on the court with her quality as a teammate."
