CHECK OUT THE STANDING

PURPOSE: To foster friendly competition between halls as they compete in an accumulation of points to determine the ALL RESIDENT HALL CHAMPION for men and women. Our office is interested in feedback regarding this program.

The Intramural, Recreation, and Sport Club Department is offer a NEW Intramural Sports Maroon Point System for the Residential Leagues. The Champions will have their organization's name displayed on the located both on-line and in the Intramural Sports Office. An All Resident Hall Intramural Sports trophy will be displayed in the respective team's house or building.* The Maroon Intramural Sports Cup races begin during the first events of the Fall quarter. The IM House Reps each house will vote on each of the events for points for the following academic year in Spring quarter. According to how they vote, we will determine the events that each house will compete in for points* (voting to begin Spring 2006)

Sports are classified into three types: major, minor, and individual. The residence house to accumulate the highest overall number of points will win the Maroon Intramural Sports Cup
  1. All teams must use their organization's name within their team name to receive points.
  2. All participants on the team must be eligible members of the organization that they are representing in order to receive points.
  3. For team sports, organizations can only receive points for one team per division (men's, women's, coed). The team that advances the furthest in the playoffs will be awarded the points for their organization. If an organization places more than one team in the final eight of their respective division..... (ie - 1st and 3rd place in the Residence Hall league of Flag Football), points for the lower places will not be awarded (but that team will block others from earning points).
  4. For certain tournaments, organizations can receive points for each classification (ie - men's, women's, coed and tennis 3.0 and 4.0). If an organization places more than one participant in any particular classification, points for the lower places will not be awarded (but that participant will block others from earning points).
  5. Eligibility protests which affect points-to-be-awarded must be submitted by the final day of the respective season.

DEDUCTIONS

  1. Forfeits- In team events, teams will receive a (-25) point deduction for the first forfeit and a (-50) point deduction for the second forfeit. No deductions will be considered if the Intramural Director (tburke@uchicago.edu) is notified 24 hours in advance of the scheduled game. This will be considered a "default". For individual and dual events, a (-15) deduction will be levied against the hall in which the forfeiting player resides.
  2. Ejections- Each ejected player will result in a (-25) point deduction for his/her team.
  3. Team Responsibilities- Each team will receive a (-10) point deduction for failing to fulfill team responsibilities. Examples include, but are not limited to: incomplete rosters, failure to have a representative at the manager meetings, officials training or official assignments.
