ELIGIBILITY

University of Chicago students with a valid Chicago Card are eligible to participate in Intramural activities. Refer to the 2004-2005 Office of Intramural, Recreation, Sport Clubs Intramural Guidelines for further clarification on eligibility. All students must complete an Assumption of Risk Agreement and Release form.

ENTRY FEE AND FORM

Refundable* Forfeit Deposit of $30 cash per team payable at the University of Chicago Intramural Sports Office @ Gerald Ratner Center in Room 139. Teams will not be placed within a league without entry form, fees, and roster with Student IDs to the Office of Campus Sports in the Gerald Ratner Center, Rm 139. *Refundable if team has no forfeits or failure of official to fulfill assigned duties, $15.00/forfeit. Two forfeits and teams are dropped from the league.


TEAM ROSTERS

Team managers must submit a completed team roster of all members and Student ID numbers with their team entry fee prior to the entry deadline. Individuals may be added to the roster in the Office of Intramural Sports in Ratner Center, Rm 139 or at the scheduled game site at any time during the regular season. In single and double elimination tournaments, players may not be added in the tournament (see Eligibility, section D).

SCHEDULES

Regular season schedules will be posted at the Office of Intramural Sports after 12:00pm on Friday, October 6, 2004. They will also be given to the team managers at the mandatory managers meeting on Tuesday, October 5 at 7:00pm in the Ratner Center, Rm 145.

COMPETITION FORMAT

The following divisions for Men, Women, and Coed will be offered for Competitive Leagues: Residence Hall, Independent, and Graduate. Competitive Leagues regular season will consist of a round robin tournament with each team playing once per week. Teams eligible for the playoffs will participate in a seeded divisional playoff. During playoffs, teams may be required to play more than one game per week and on days and times different from regular season games.

STUDENT ID POLICY

New Policy: Every players will be required to show their University of Chicago Card at every game to eligible to participate in Intramural activities. The Henry Crown Field House and Gerald Ratner Center require all students to have a valid UCID for entry.

MANDATORY MANAGER'S MEETING

***Tuesday, October 5, 7:00pm***
All meetings are held in the Ratner Center, Rm 145. The manager's meeting allows our office to present the policies, procedures and rules that govern the Intramural Sports programs. Failure to attend the manager's meeting will result in a $5.00 forfeit fee from your $30.00 deposit.

MANDATORY OFFICIAL'S CLINIC

***Tuesday, October 5, 6:00pm***
All meetings are held in the Ratner Center, Rm 145. Teams are required to provide two officials to officiate one game per week. Teams are encouraged to select someone who has knowledge or experience of football and will fulfill this requirement. Teams will receive a forfeit if their team official does not report for assigned work hours. Teams will be dropped from their league if they do not provide officials.

FORFEIT POLICY

Teams should arrive 10 minutes before game time to complete score sheets. A team can begin and play the contest with fewer players than the official rules specify without forfeiting the contest. A grace period of five (5) minutes is allotted for each team. This means that a team has until five minutes after the scheduled starting time to get the game started. After five minutes have elapsed, the team ready to play at the scheduled starting time will be awarded six (6) points and pre-game options.

SPORTSMANSHIP

All participants and spectators are expected and required to conduct themselves as sportsmanlike individuals and to treat others, as you would like to be treated.

RULES

All Intramural contests shall be governed by Intramural rules adopted from the NIRSA (National Intramural Recreational Sports Association) flag football rules. Rulebooks will be provided at the Mandatory Meeting.

RAIN PROCEDURES

In the event of inclement weather, contact the Office of Campus Sports, 702-4657, and thirty (30) minutes before game time for rainout procedures.

AWARDS

Intramural Championship T-Shirts will be awarded to the winners of each competitive division.

RISK STATEMENT

All participants are strongly urged to have a yearly medical examination and carry medical insurance coverage. While we pro vide safe and well-supervised activities and facilities, there is an inherent potential for physical injury or death in all sport activities. Maintenance of good physical health can give you more peace of mind while participating. The Student Care Center has information entitling all students to a special rate from an insurance company.
