KICKBALL RULES
Section 1: Rules
1. Teams are composed of 10 total players (co-rec 5-on-5 ). Only 4 of each gender will play in the field, but everyone will kick
2. The defensive team may be set up in any order the team wishes. There is no set rule for placing defending players.
3. Kicking order must alternate gender.
4. Game time is forfeit time! A team may start with 8 players of equal gender and must end with 8 players of equal gender.
5. A half inning will consist of 3 outs. A game will consist of 5 innings or 45 minutes time limit.
6 Balls will be called a strike if they cross the plate or orange mat located behind the plate. Each player will be given three strikes. Balls that are kicked foul ball on the third strike will count as an out.
7. The offensive team, team at kick, will supply the pitcher. There will be one pitch unless it is fouled off, then the kicker will receive another pitch. If fouled off again, the kicker will be out.
8. A player will be ruled out if they kick two fouls, get hit by the ball from the shoulders or below before reaching the base, a pop fly is caught, or if the base runner is off of the base before the ball is put into play by the kicker. EXCEPTION: a player who is not in a regular standing/running position and is hit in the face/head will be ruled out! (ex.bending down to avoid getting hit or the runner falling down).
9. There will be no official, games will be self officiate. A player must be designated before the game to rule on bases. The team first listed on the score sheet will be home and responsible for calls on 1st and 3rd bases. The team listed second on the score sheet will be away and responsible for calls on 2nd and home plate.
10. There will be no infield fly rule.
Section 2: Unsportsmanlike conduct
It may include, but is limited to:
1. foul language
2. unnecessary roughness
3. arguing with officials, staff, participants, or fans
Section 3: Protests
Protests will only be accepted in cases involving use of an ineligible player or interpretation of a rule made by an official. Protests of judgement calls will not be accepted.
Rule 4 Tournament Format and Tie Breakers
Pool play - match play
Art.1 Matches will be decided using a best of 3 format in which the first team to win 2 games will be declared the winner of the game.
Art. 2 During pool play, or round robin play, all games will be played, regardless of the results of the first two games.
Art. 3 The format used to determine a champion in a particular division will be decided by tournament officials, based on the number of teams registered.
Code of Conduct
1 Understand, appreciate and abide by the rules of the game and the honor system.
2 Respect the integrity and judgement of game officials and Intramural Sports staff
3 Respect your opponent and congratulate them in a courteous manner following each match, whether in victory or defeat.
4 Be responsible for your actions and maintain self control.
5 Do not taunt or bait opponents. Refrain from using foul or abusive language. |
