Capital Improvements Requests
Each winter, the Office of Intramural, Recreation, and Sport Club solicits
proposals from recognized Sport Club for the allocation of the $10,000
Sport Club Capital Improvements Fund. Capital expenses are items which
cost $5000 or more and will be in use for at least five years.
To Apply:
Proposal information will be available at the beginning of Winter Quarter.
Proposals are due Monday of 4th week during Winter Quarter and will be
reviewed during 5th and 6th weeks. Final decisions will be announced during
8th week of Winter Quarter.
University of Chicago Women's Board
Each spring, the University of Chicago Women's Board selects a few projects
to fund for the coming academic year. The Women's Board funds a range
of projects, but it is mainly interested in initiatives that make a lasting
impact and improve the quality of student life of the U of C.
In the past, gifts have ranged from $3,000 to $20,000 and have funded
a wide variety of projects, including equipment for Sailing, Crew, Fencing,
and all Martial Arts. Please note that although the Women's Board makes
decisions on which projects to fund in late-May/early-June, funds are
not available until January of the following year.
To Apply:
Only a few proposals can be submitted to the Tamsen Burke, Assistant Chair
Department of Physical Education and Athletics. The decision is based
on the appropriateness of the request as it relates to the type of projects
that the Women's Board seeks to fund and the immediate need for the project.
- Student groups interested in submitting a proposal to the Women's
Board should talk with the Tamsen Burke, Assistant Chair Department
of Physical Education and Athletics before January 15 to discuss the
viability of the project.
- Groups will have until February 1 to turn in a one page description
of the project with an attached budget. By mid-February, groups will
be notified whether or not they should prepare a full proposal.
- Those groups preparing full proposals will then work with the Director
to complete the proposals by March 1.
