Nov. 16, 2007

I want to take this opportunity and thank all the Maroon fans, parents, and families that supported us so strongly in 2007.

Winning the last game on “SENIOR and PARENTS DAY” was a great way to complete this fall’s campaign.

The coaching staff wants to give a heartfelt giant thank you to the 15 seniors. They are an extraordinary group of fine young men.

Their determination, dedication, leadership, and love for the game of football will not soon be matched. They were a pleasure to work with, travel with, and share some once in a life-time moments with.

I know that they will be extremely successful in their post college careers, and I would not doubt someday that one them may add their name to the long and prestigious list of University of Chicago Nobel Prize winners!! Go for it guys.

There were some excellent performances in 2007. On the national scene, the Maroons had several players ranked at the very top of the NCAA Football Division III.

The NCAA III has 231 teams and ranks individual stat leaders 1-500. Congratulations to all:

CHRIS LEAMY 13th in INTERCEPTIONS.
JUSTIN KADERABEK 18th PASS SACKS
JUSTIN KADERABEK 25th in TACKLES for LOSS.
CHICAGO’S KICK-OFF COVERAGE UNIT #14.

Other highlights included wide receiver MIKE ALBIAN who ended his career ranked in the UC Football Record Book. Mike finished ranked 2nd in TOUCHDOWN RECEPTIONS and 3rd in CAREER RECEPTIONS.

Chicago players that are ranked in the top 100 NCAA DIVISION III (they rank the first 500 players) include:

OFFENSE:
MIKE ALBIAN #96 in RECEPTIONS per game.
TOM PARKS #99 in RUSHING YARDS per game.

DEFENSE:
GABY FERNANDEZ #78 in INTERCEPTIONS + #94 in FORCED FUMBLES.

GREAT JOB MAROONS!!!

Here’s wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Dick Maloney
Head Football Coach
