The team had a great trip last weekend to Boston and New York.
On Friday night we defeated Brandeis, who was ranked #2 in the country at the time, by a score of 79-77.It was a terrific game and saw the momentum swing back and forth throughout the game. We were able to hold off the final charge of the Judges and come away with the win.
On Sunday we were able to get our second win of the road trip by defeating NYU by a score of 61-44. The UAA is one of the best leagues in the country this year and to be able to pull off these two road victories gives us a lot of momentum.
Unfortunately that momentum has to be taken on the road again for the second consecutive weekend as we travel to Pittsburgh to play Carnergie Mellon on Friday at 8 p.m. On Sunday we play Rochester, who is currently #3 in the country, at noon.
The team is excited about the challenge. We believe that if we can continue our recent success we would be in a great position in the UAA race after the first time through the league.
Our record is 11-5 and 4-1 in the league. We play five of our last seven games at home, so this is definitely a big weekend for the Maroons.
A special thank you to our many fans and alumni that came to the games in Boston and New York. It was fun to see and catch up with many friends and our alumni groups, led by Chris Lavoie in Boston and Reggie Ambatchew in New York, do a great job of generating support for our teams.
The team really appreciates this effort and hopes that everyone had a good time at the games.
On a side note, we recently announced the addition of three recruits who will join the program in the fall. These guys are very talented players from great families and high school basketball programs. I believe that they are great additions to the program and thought you might enjoy reading about them.
