Feb. 21, 2008

The team just completed an excellent road trip.

We played very well and defeated Emory 87-73 on Friday and traveled to Cleveland and defeated Case 84-56 on Sunday. The team ended UAA road games with a record of 5-2.

We now return home for our final three games in the race for the UAA championship.

The team is currently 15-7 and 8-3 in league play. We are tied for second in the UAA with Brandeis, one game behind Washington University.

On Friday we take on NYU at the Ratner Center at 8 p.m. On Sunday we will play Brandeis, currently ranked #6 in the country, at noon.

We were able to beat both of these teams earlier in the year on the road and hope to continue that success at home. If we are able to win both, we would pull away from Brandeis in the league race and set up a game next weekend at home against Wash U that would likely be for the UAA title and a bid to the NCAA tournament.

These games will be enormously important for our team and we hope to have a great turn out from our fans. We need your support to make the home court advantage significant as we attempt to win the UAA. Hope to see you there!

Congratulations are due to senior Nate Hainje who recorded his 1,000th point as a Maroon this past weekend and was also named UAA player of the week. Nate becomes the first player in Chicago basketball history to amass over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 assists.

Take care,
Mike McGrath
