Mar. 4, 2008

Saturday was a great day to be a fan of Maroon basketball as both the men's and women's basketball team secured UAA titles with victories over Wash U.

We started off the game slow. We were down 13-2 and 20-8 before pulling things together and taking a 36-35 lead into halftime. We started off the second half on a 11-1 run and held on for a 74-66 win.

The team really appreciated all of the support of the fans as the gym was nearly at capacity and everyone really enjoyed the win.

We end the regular season with a record of 18-7. In winning our sixth UAA championship in the past 12 years, we not only achieved our main goal for the season, we also secured a bid to the 2008 NCAA championship tournament.

We received the pairings and will travel to St. Paul, Minn., this weekend. We play Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday at the University of St. Thomas at 6 p.m.

If we are able to win, we will play the winner of St. Thomas and Buena Vista (Iowa) Saturday at 7 p.m.

Information about the games and tickets is available here:

It is definitely not an easy draw, but the team is excited to keep the season going for as long as possible.

Take Care,

Take care,
Mike McGrath
