Greetings from Chicago!
I hope the New Year has started well for you and you are looking for good things to happen.
Here on campus the team is getting geared up for spring season and more importantly our 2007 preseason China Tour. The team will depart on August 18 to Beijing, China where we will spend five days touring the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall of China, and the Temple of Heaven. We will visit Dashala and Liulichang and oh yes, practice and compete against two local teams. On the 25th we will fly to Shanghai and tour the Old City, Yuyuan Gardens, the Jade Buddha Temple and the Museum of the People’s Square. While in Shanghai we will continue our training routine with practice and two more competitions. On August 29 we will return home and prepare for opening weekend on the 31.
We are very excited about the China Tour as it will afford most of us an opportunity of a lifetime. The team has been working hard on fundraising projects coupled with the Edith Ballwebber Grant to finance this amazing trip. I will keep you updated on the trip as we near departure!
