UChicago begins its competitive schedule by hosting Augustana College (5-0) on Tuesday afternoon on the Stagg Courts. The Maroons then head out to the ITA Central Regional, hosted by Oberlin College, this weekend.
The Maroons and the Vikings last faced off in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship, with UChicago winning 5-0 at home. Sophomore Marjorie Antohi is the top returner with a 25-4 singles record and an 18-10 doubles mark at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, respectively. The Maroons went 18-5 last season and reached the NCAA Quarterfinals for the seventh time in program history.
The No. 2-ranked Maroons (6-0 record) look to continue their run of dominance with a Wednesday home match against Carthage College (5-2) and a Saturday road contest at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (3-3-1).
Last week, UChicago won a pair of games by a combined 10-0 score with a huge advantage in shots at 75-4. Senior forward Madori Spiker has scored in three-straight games, including two goals at MSOE. The Maroons are currently averaging 3.83 goals per game and have tallied at least three goals in every game this season.
No. 1-ranked UChicago (6-0 record) will play a pair of night games this week at Wheaton College (3-3) on Wednesday and on the Stagg Field home turf against Elmhurst College (3-1-2) on Saturday.
The Maroons secured a pair of shutouts last week, including a 3-0 triumph at No. 19-ranked Loras College. The prodigious offense is averaging 4.17 goals per game with 11 different players scoring so far this season. Sophomore Nate Johnson was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday, and the Maroons have blanked three opponents so far this year.
The Maroons (7-3 record) return to tournament action with four matches at Illinois Wesleyan University's Barker Chevrolet Classic on Friday and Saturday.
Junior rightside hitter Sarah Muisenga and freshman setter Emma Griffith were named to the All-Tournament Team at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Nike/Eastbay Fall Classic last weekend. UChicago went 2-1 with a pair of sweeps. Griffith was the UAA Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week after averaging 12.33 assists per set and 2.75 digs per set.

UPDATE: UChicago will not be traveling to the Augustana Invite on Sept. 22. The Maroons will add a race at Olivet Nazarene University on Sept. 29.
The Maroons will see the same course when Augustana hosts the upcoming NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 11. UChicago's women have finished first and third in their opening two meets, while the men have taken second and fifth. The underclassmen have performed well on the men's side, accounting for six out of the team's top seven placers at both the St. Francis Invite and Vic Godfrey Open.
Fresh off their bye week, the Maroons (0-2 record) play their first Midwest Conference opponent of the season on Saturday night when they match-up with Illinois College (0-2) on the road.
The defensive side of the ball has produced numerous big plays for the Maroons during the opening two games. UChicago already has five sacks and 20 tackles for loss, after totaling 11 sacks and 49 tackles for loss in 2016. The Maroons have also pounced on four fumble recoveries and picked off five passes. The special teams unit has blocked three kicks, with one resulting in a safety.

UChicago makes its season debut at the Western Michigan University Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
The Maroons return a stacked roster that features the top seven wins leaders in singles from last year. Sophomore Erik Kerrigan posted a 21-5 record, senior Nicolas Chua was 20-9 and senior Peter Leung went 19-3. Six Maroons earned All-American honors in 2017 – Chua (singles), Max Hawkins (doubles), Kerrigan (singles/doubles), sophomore Ninan Kumar (doubles), senior David Liu (singles) and sophomore Tyler Raclin (doubles).
