CHICAGO – Both 2016-17 University of Chicago soccer teams were honored by the United Soccer Coaches organization with the awarding of the College Team Academic Award.
Of the 828 total teams (men's and women's) earning the honor across all NCAA divisions, UChicago was one of just 204 that qualified for the award for both men's and women's programs.
The award is open to teams that record a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Amy Reifert's 2016-17 squad, which finished 18-4-1 and advanced to the NCAA Final Four, recorded team GPA of 3.53. The men's side, led by Mike Babst, netted a team GPA of 3.44. The 2016-17 men's team finished 17-1-2 and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
