No. 7-ranked UChicago (13-2, 3-1 UAA) returns to conference play with their final road trip of the season. The Maroons start off on Friday at New York University (8-5-1, 0-4 UAA) followed by a Sunday showdown at No. 19-ranked Brandeis University (11-3, 3-1 UAA).
Four different teams are currently tied atop the University Athletic Association standings at 3-1, with three conference games remaining. The Maroons lead the UAA with 2.8 goals per game thanks in a large part to the conference's top goal scorer, junior forward Max Lopez (14 goals), and its assists leader, sophomore forward Dayo Adeosun (10 assists). UChicago has outshot 14 of its 15 opponents this season.
The No. 1-ranked Maroons (15-0, 4-0 UAA) have a pair of nationally-ranked teams lined up for its East Coast road swing in the penultimate weekend of conference play. They take on No. 25-ranked NYU (10-3-2, 2-1-1 UAA) on Friday afternoon and No. 23-ranked Brandeis (11-2-3, 2-1-1) on Sunday afternoon.
The Maroons have enjoyed overpowering offense this season, most recently pouring in eight goals on Oct. 19 at Illinois Institute of Technology. The catalyst has been senior midfielder Mia Calamari, whose 14 assists place her third in NCAA Division III. Calamari has also posted seven assists over the past five contests. A total of 12 different players have scored at least two goals this season.
No. 15-ranked UChicago (19-5) will play four matches at Aurora University's Jim Coleman Memorial Classic in its final weekend of action before the UAA Championships. The weekend tournament begins with matches against University of Dubuque (26-2) and Aurora (21-6)on Friday evening at 6:00 and 8:00 PM. Action continues on Saturday against Concordia University Chicago (18-11) and North Park University (13-12) at Noon and 2:00 PM.
The Maroons are the third seed in the conference after a 2-2 split of their matches at the second UAA Round Robin. Before that weekend, UChicago had won 11 consecutive matches while conceding only three sets across those contests. The offense is hitting 24.2 percent as a team – 6.8 percent higher than its opponents.

Men's and women's cross country will compete at the UAA Championships this Saturday at Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park, N.J. The women's 6K race starts at 11:00 AM (ET), with the men's 8K following at Noon (ET).
The 15th-ranked women enter the conference meet coming off a strong performance at the Principia College Cowbell Classic. Senior Khia Kurtenbach led the way with runner-up finish in a time of 21:22. She has finished second at UAAs two years in-a-row. The Maroons took second of eight teams at last year's UAA Championships.
The men's team jumped into the national rankings at No. 23 last week. Only two conference rivals – Washington University-St. Louis and Carnegie Mellon University – remain ahead in the poll. In 2016, UChicago took sixth as a team at UAAs. Senior Peter Kreuch is the top returning placer after taking 31st last year.

Swimming & Diving
The UChicago men's and women's swimming and diving teams begin their competitive schedule on Saturday with split-squad meets at Northwestern University and Wheaton College. At Northwestern, the teams will also compete against University of Illinois-Chicago and Rutgers University. The meets will begin at 10:00 AM in Evanston and 11:00 AM at Wheaton.
Both squads start the 2017-18 campaign ranked in the top 10 nationally. The men were voted No. 7 in the preseason poll, while the women begin at No. 9 in the rankings. The men's squad returns nine All-Americans from last season – juniors Alexander Farrell, Dalton Mitchell and Michael Todd join a bevy of sophomores: Taye Baldinazzo, Lance Culjat, Aaron Guo, Byrne Litschgi, Aidan Meara and Reona Yamaguchi. On the women's side, junior Hannah Eastman, sophomore Agnes Lo and sophomore Yifan Mao earned All-American status in 2017.

The Maroons (4-3 overall, 2-1 MWC) look to continue their defensive roll at Ripon College (2-5, 1-2 MWC) on Saturday afternoon.
Ripon's triple-option offense is averaging 235.9 rushing yards per game and 4.7 yards per carry. UChicago's defense has limited its last five opponents to 12 points or fewer.
Senior running back Chandler Carroll ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns last week versus Beloit College, averaging 10.2 yards per carry. He has totaled 11 rushing touchdowns in five games against Midwest Conference opponents this year. UChicago averaged 8.8 yards per carry in Saturday's Homecoming victory, with freshman running back Riley Trettel (115 yards) breaking out for three runs of at least 20 yards.
