No. 12-ranked UChicago (18-2 record, 9-0 UAA) make an East Coast road swing this weekend, stopping by New York University on Friday before visiting Brandeis University on Sunday.
The Maroons kept their perfect conference record intact and stretched their undefeated streak to 16 with home wins over Emory University and No. 11-ranked University of Rochester this weekend. Junior forward Olariche Obi was dominant in the 72-63 win over Emory, amassing 21 points and 18 rebounds. Two days later, the Maroons scored 26 points in the final nine minutes to seal a tightly-fought 80-70 victory against Rochester. Sophomore forward Taylor Lake contributed 25 points on 9 of 14 shooting.
The Maroons (9-11 record, 5-4 UAA) will also be on the road for matchups with NYU and Brandeis on Friday and Sunday.
At home last weekend, the Maroons split a pair of close games. Last Friday night, No. 15-ranked Emory pulled away in the second half for a 66-61 win, the same margin by which the Eagles bested UChicago in Atlanta. The hosts bounced back on Sunday with a 90-83 victory over Rochester. Seniors Jake Fenlon and Collin Barthel poured in 25 and 22 points, respectively, to lead the charge for the Maroons. Fenlon also broke his own school record for three-pointers made in a season – he has made 80 in 20 games, breaking the old mark of 76.
Men's and Women's Tennis
The men's and women's tennis squads – both ranked ninth in the country – travel to Ohio this weekend for a set of three matches in the Cleveland area. On consecutive days, UChicago will take on Denison University, Case Western Reserve University, Oberlin College and Trinity University (Texas).
The Maroons notched matching 9-0 home victories against Hope College last weekend. The women did not drop a single set against their nationally-ranked opponents. In three dual matches, the UChicago women have gone 16-2 in singles bouts.
Senior Luke Tsai earned his first career UAA Athlete of the Week on Monday. At No. 2 singles, Tsai shutout his Hope opponent 6-0, 6-0 to stretch his singles winning streak to eight matches.

UChicago (8-3 record) will serve as the host of the UAA Championships on Saturday afternoon in the Ratner Athletics Center. The three-team, round-robin format also features NYU (11-9) and Case Western Reserve (5-3).
UChicago comes into the competition fresh off a 27-21 victory at Augustana College on Friday. The Maroons won five of the last six matches to overcome an initial 18-0 deficit. Senior Nick Ferraro and junior John Jayne won by pins, while first-year Jason Crary earned a 19-0 technical fall.
At last year's UAA Championships, the Maroons took second place with two weight class champions – Grant Morrison (141 pounds) and Duncan Payne (285 pounds). Morrison is also the reigning UAA Rookie of the Year.
Indoor Track & Field
The Maroons will head north on Saturday to compete in the Midwest Invite at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Last Saturday's Windy City Rumble, which the Maroons hosted at the Henry Crown Field House, proved a success for both squads as the women claimed the team title and the men placed second in the 10-team invitational. On the women's side, UChicago won five individual events on its way to racking up 219.5 points and a large margin of victory. The highlight for the men came as sophomore Alexander Scott tossed the shot put 15.70 meters – a career-best mark that won the event and also ranks second-best in school history. Sophomore Robin Peter put up the fifth-fastest time in the women's 60-meter hurdles (8.90). Peter and Scott both received UAA Athlete of the Week accolades on Monday.
