2010-11 Directors' Cup Standings
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago finished 27th among 447 NCAA Division III institutions in the final standings for the 2010-11 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, which recognizes the top overall athletic programs in the nation.
Chicago's 27th-place finish marked its second-highest showing to date, following a #24 performance in 2003-04. Chicago captured 29th place a year ago.
In 2010-11, Chicago teams notched national top-10 finishes in women's tennis (4th), women's basketball (quarterfinalist) and women's cross country (10th), and won University Athletic Association championships in women's basketball, football, women's soccer, and wrestling.
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men’s.
