Maroons Fall to #27 North Central
CHICAGO -- North Central College, ranked 27th in the NCAA Division III and featuring four nationally-ranked individuals, defeated the University of Chicago wrestling team 37-3 Tuesday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.
Senior Ryan Hatten (Florissant, Mo./ McCleur North) earned the Maroons' lone victory with a 9-2 decision over Adam Kendall at heavyweight.
Sophomore James Layton (Chesterfield, Mo./ DeSmet Jesuit) fell to the Cardinals' Joby Bodi 4-3 at 157 pounds for his fourth setback in 14 bouts this season.
Nathan Fitzenreider (ranked #3 at 133), Andrew Zobac (#13, 141), Greg Schroeder (#18, 174), and Billy Malone (#20, 184) each won their respective bouts for North Central (3-1).
The Maroons (1-6) travel to Galesburg, Illinois, to participate in the Knox College Duals on Saturday.
