Claire Denz Named All-American

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior women's soccer player Claire Denz (Wheaton, Ill./ North) has been selected to the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III All-America Team.

A Third Team All-America defender, Denz led a Chicago defensive unit that held opponents to nine goals in 19 matches with 11 shutouts. She started all 19 games this past season and ended her career having started 52 consecutive contests during which the Maroons posted a 36-11-5 mark.

Earlier this month, Denz was honored as an Academic All-District Second Team pick. She also garnered University Athletic Association All-Academic Recognition accolades for the third time in as many years.

Denz becomes the seventh Chicago player to earn NSCAA All-America honors and the first since 2005.

Chicago finished the season with a 12-4-3 overall record and reached the NCAA tournament for the 12th time in the past 15 campaigns.
