AVCA All-America Team
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago junior middle blocker Caroline Brander (River Forest, Ill./ Trinity) has been named to the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division III All-America Team.
An honorable mention selection, Brander collected 106 blocks (0.91 per set) and 260 kills (2.22 per set) to go along with a .329 hitting percentage as the Maroons enjoyed the most successful season of the program's 40-year history.
During the regular season, Brander hit .303 against regionally-ranked opponents (Chicago hit .217 as a team) and hit at a .260 clip against nationally-ranked foes (.174).
Brander's play helped Chicago win 30 of 36 matches, including its first NCAA tournament victory, and achieve a #15 national ranking.

* Brander is the first Maroon in any sport to garner All-America accolades in 2011-12 (volleyball is the first sport to announce an All-America Team).
* Brander's .329 hitting percentage was the fifth-highest in school history.
* Brander collected five or more blocks in six matches and registered double-digit kills on seven occasions.
