For Immediate Release Chicago Splits at Concordia River Forest, Ill. -- Senior catcher/third baseman T.J. Rajcevich (Waukegan, Ill./ Waukegan) drove in six runs on the day as the University of Chicago baseball team split a twinbill at Concordia (Ill.) University on Saturday, taking game one 16-9 before falling 10-8 in the nightcap. Chicago pounded out 16 hits, including seven for extra bases, in the opening contest. Rajcevich went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs, while freshman right fielder Mike Serio (Antioch, Ill./ Carmel) went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs. Senior shortstop Steve Ruh (Northbrook, Ill./ Glenbrook North) and junior designated hitter Ryan Denton (Worth, Ill./ Marist) each collected a pair of RBIs in Saturday's opener as the Maroons snapped an eight-game losing streak with the 16-9 victory. The Maroons took a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth in game two, before the host Cougars exploded for six runs and held on for a 10-8 win. Rajcevich belted a three-run home run, while Denton went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Chicago now stands at 5-12 on the season. Concordia moved to 8-12. |
