For Immediate Release Maroons Drop Two at Elmhurst Elmhurst, Ill. -- The University of Chicago baseball team's eight-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday evening as the Maroons fell to host Elmhurst College 12-5 and 23-5 in doubleheader action. Elmhurst (16-20) jumped to an 8-0 lead after three innings in the opening game. The Bluejays' Sean OBrien went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Tom Neckopolus posted the complete game victory. Senior center fielder Frank Brown (Chicago Heights, Ill./ DeLaSalle) drove in three runs for the Maroons (14-16) with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate. He was 1-for-3 in the nightcap to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. In game two, Matt Jackson led Elmhurst with a home run and five RBIs. Senior shortstop Steve Ruh (Northbrook, Ill./ Glenbrook) went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 17 games -- the longest streak by a Chicago player this season. |
