Maroons Defeat North Central 7-2

Chicago -- Junior right-hander Dan Yeksigian (Downers Grove, Ill./ Benet) struck out 14 batters en route to a complete-game victory as the University of Chicago baseball team defeated North Central College 7-2 Friday at J. Kyle Anderson Field.

Yeksigian (2-3) allowed five hits and walked three as he notched his third complete game of the year.

Freshman right fielder Mike Serio (Antioch, Ill./ Carmel) drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth, which gave Chicago (6-12) a 3-2 lead.

Junior catcher Chris Kocinski (Antioch, Ill./ Antioch) went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs as the Maroons won for the second time in their last three games.

Senior shortstop Steve Ruh (Northbrook, Ill./ Glenbrook North) went 2-for-4 with a run, and RBI, and two stolen bases.

Gerry Novak collected both RBIs for North Central (8-13).
