Cross Country Teams & Athletes
Earn Academic Recognition

Chicago -- The University of Chicago men's and women's cross country teams were recognized as Cross Country Coaches Association National All-Academic Teams. In addition, three members of the men's squad -- senior Jerome Tharaud (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman) and sophomores Tom Haxton (Seattle, Wash./Shorecrest) and Patrick Sullivan (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) -- were cited as Academic All-Americans by the coaches association.

The team award is based on the cumulative grade point average of every athlete on a team's roster. The individual award criteria include the athlete's finish at the regional meet and cumulative GPA.

Chicago's men's team placed second at the 2001 University Athletic Association Championship and eighth at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. The women finished fourth at the UAA Championship and sixth at the Midwest Regional.
