Outdoor Track & Field Teams
Take 7th at Cardinal Classic
Naperville, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's and women's outdoor track & field teams each finished in seventh place at the North Central College Cardinal Classic Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Patrick Sullivan (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) turned in the Maroons' top performance with an NCAA Division III provisional-qualifying time of 3:54.38 in the 1,500-meter run, which was good for third place. Senior Jerome Tharaud (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman) finished in fourth place in that same event with a time of 3:56.20.
Senior Keith Mastronardi (Seaford, N.Y./Chaminade) was the runner-up in the triple jump competition with a 13.85-meter leap
In the women's event, sophomore Valerie Anderson (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) finished among the top ten in four different throwing events. She placed third in the hammer throw (42.56 m), fifth in the javelin (28.98 m), and tenth in both the shot put (10.08 m) and discus (34.28 m).
