Chris Hall Appointed Cross Country, Track & Field Coach
Chicago University of Chicago Director of Athletics Tom Weingartner announced today that Chris Hall has been named head coach for mens and womens cross country and track & field.
Hall comes to Chicago from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he served as head mens and womens cross country coach and assistant track & field coach since 1992. He was named the head men's track & field coach beginning in the 1995 season.
During his tenure at Wisconsin-Stout, Halls teams produced 28 All-Americans and two national champions. In 1996, Halls mens outdoor track & field team finished fourth at the NCAA Division III Championship, marking the schools best-ever national track and field finish. Also in 1996, he was chosen the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track Coach of the Year.
"Chris Hall's professional credentials are simply outstanding and suggest that he is the right coach to continue to build on the cross country and track & field successes achieved by the University of Chicago in the past several years, said Weingartner. He is not only an accomplished teacher and coach on the national level, but he is just the right fit for the University community and our programs."
Prior to his appointment at UW-Stout, Hall served as assistant womens cross country coach at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) from 1991-92 and as assistant cross country and track & field coach at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse from 1989-91.
Hall was an All-American distance runner at UW-LaCrosse, where he earned bachelors and masters degrees in physical education in 1989 and 1990, respectively.
Hall replaces Jim Spivey, who served in the position for three years before accepting a position as assistant cross country and track & field coach at Vanderbilt University.
