Rock Island, Ill. -- Three University of Chicago runners competed in the 2001 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships Saturday at Augustana College, and two earned All-America recognition.
In the men's competition, sophomores Tom Haxton (Seattle, Wash./Shorecrest) and Patrick Sullivan (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) finished 29th and 81st, respectively, with times of 24:51 and 25:36. Haxton was cited an All-American by virtue of placing among the top 35 finishers. He was also chosen University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
In the women's event, junior Wendy Sullivan (Colorado City, Texas/Colorado) merited All-America status by placing 25th with a time of 17:45.
