Univ. of Chicago Posts Three Top 10 Finishes
at NCAA Men's Indoor Track Championship
Ada, Ohio -- Six members of the University of Chicago men's indoor track & field team -- two individuals and one relay team -- finished in ninth place in their respective events as the Maroons competed at the 2002 NCAA Division III Championship Friday and Saturday at Ohio Northern University.
Sophomore Adeoye Mabogunje (Tamuning, Guam/St. John's) finished ninth in the high jump competition with a mark of 2.03 meters, while sophomore Tom Haxton (Seattle, Wash./Shorecrest) placed ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:56.23.
In addition, the Chicago distance medley relay team of senior Jerome Tharaud (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman), juniors Tim Tuff (San Mateo, Calif./Half Moon Bay) and Ryan Raimo (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) and sophomore Patrick Sullivan (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) captured ninth place with a time of 10:07.14.
The top eight finishers in each event are recognized as All-Americans.
