For Immediate Release Dan Sullivan Named Football, Track Aide Chicago -- University of Chicago Director of Athletics Tom Weingartner announced today that Dan Sullivan has been named assistant coach for football and track & field. Sullivan comes to Chicago from Southwest State (Minn.) University, where he was a member of the football staff as a defensive assistant coach in 2002. His responsibilities included working with linebackers and special teams. In addition, he served as the director of Southwest State's speed performance camp. Prior to his arrival at Southwest State, Sullivan spent two seasons (2000-01) as linebackers coach at Illinois Wesleyan University, where he helped coach the Titans to consecutive College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin co-championships. Sullivan began his coaching career in 1997 as linebackers coach at Loras College, where he also worked in conjunction with the strength and track & field coaches as a performance enhancement instructor. Following his stint at Loras, he spent one season as linebackers coach at Drake University (1998) and Lafayette College (1999). Sullivan was a four-year letter winner at outside linebacker at Loras from 1993-96 and was the team's leading tackler as a senior. A native of Normal, Illinois, Sullivan earned a bachelors degree in business management from Loras in 1997 and received a masters degree in HPR-sports administration from Illinois State University in 2001. |
