Tom Haxton Named UAA Athlete of the Week

Chicago -- University of Chicago junior Tom Haxton (Seattle, Wash./ Shorecrest) was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's cross country, the conference announced today.

Haxton set a meet record in taking top individual honors at the 14-team Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Aug. 31. He topped a field of 209 runners, covering the five-kilometer course in 15:42 as the Maroons captured the team title.

This week marks Haxton's first UAA Athlete of the Week award this year and the seventh of his career.
