Three Univ. of Chicago Athletes
Earn UAA Weekly Honors

Chicago -- Three University of Chicago athletes were named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week in their respective sports, the UAA announced today.  Those recognized were sophomore Tom Haxton (Seattle, Wash./Shorecrest) in men's cross country, junior Josh Dunn (Chicago, Ill./ Loyola Academy) in football, and junior Cherish Orozco (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) in women's soccer.

Haxton finished eighth among 471 runners in leading the Maroons to a sixth-place finish at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational at Augustana (Ill.) College on Sep. 28.  He posted a time of 25:09 on the 8,000-meter course.

Dunn passed for 295 yards and three touchdowns in a 51-34 UAA win over Case Western Reserve University on Sep. 29.  Leading an offensive charge that amassed 507 total yards, he completed 25 of 34 attempts with an interception.  Dunn has been chosen UAA Athlete of the Week twice this season and six times during his career.

Orozco scored the winning goal in back-to-back matches, a 1-0 win at Lake Forest College on Sep. 25, and a 2-1 victory over Carnegie Mellon University four days later.
