For Immediate Release October 16, 2002 Chicago Pair Named UAA Athletes of the Week Chicago -- University of Chicago junior Taylor Singleton (Wooster, Ohio/ Wooster) and freshman Jessica Winter (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) were named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for men's soccer and women's cross country, respectively, the conference announced today. Making his first starts of the season as
the Maroons' goalkeeper, Singleton registered a pair of victories -- including
a shutout -- in UAA action last weekend. He made 10 saves in a 3-1 win
over Emory University on Oct. 11, then stopped two shots in a 1-0 victory
over New York University on Oct. 13. Winter finished eighth among 184 runners
at the Benedictine University Invitational on Oct. 11, covering the six-kilometer
course in a time of 23:01 to lead the Maroons to a third-place team finish. Singleton was cited as the UAA Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career. Winter was recognized for the second time this season and in her career.
