For Immediate Release Chicago Announces Men's Soccer Class of 2008 Chicago -- University of Chicago Head Men's Soccer Coach John O'Connor announced today the team's incoming freshmen for the 2004 campaign. Jonathon Cartwright (Franklin, Tenn./ Battleground Academy) is a 6'0" defender. He was an all-region selection and state semi-finalist at Battleground Academy. Cartwright was a two-time club soccer state champion with Tennessee F.C. and was named to the Super Clubs U.S. National Team. He is also a member of the Tennessee Olympic Development Program state team. Mike Glass (Colorado Springs, Colo./ Cheyenne Mountain) is a 5"11" midfielder. He was an all-league player who also plays club soccer for the state finalist Pride Predators F.C. Glass is also a member of the Colorado Olympic Development Program state pool team. Andrew Gulley (Littleton, Colo./ Heritage) is a 6'0" goalkeeper. He was named all-league, all-conference, and first team all-state for state tournament quarterfinalist Heritage High School. He also plays club soccer for Real Nacional S.C. Andrew Hamilton (Springfield, Ill./ Sacred Heart Griffin) is a 5'10" forward/midfielder. He was named captain, all-state, and All-Midwest for the 2002 Illinois State Champion Sacred Heart Griffin High School. Hamilton also plays club soccer for Metro F.C. and was named to the Super Y League Regional team. He is also a member of the Illinois Olympic Development Program state team. Eric Kirkenmeir (Wheaton, Ill./ Benet) is a 5'10" midfielder and team captain from perennial Illinois state soccer tournament contender Benet Academy. He is a former player in the Chicago Magic club program who now competes for Ajax F.C. Kirkenmeir is also a member of the Illinois Olympic Development Program state team. Nate Klug (Wellesley, Mass./ Roxbury-Latin) is a 6'0" defender. He was named to the all-league team at Roxbury-Latin in the prestigious Independent School League (ISL). Klug also plays club soccer for Boston Lightning F.C. Chicago posted a 10-6-2 overall record in 2003. The Maroons have posted five consecutive winning seasons and four straight 10-victory campaigns. |
