For Immediate Release Chicago Players, Coaches Honored by UAA Chicago -- University of Chicago senior Jacob Reckess (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./ Ketcham) and freshman Joseph Tchan (Woodland Hills, Calif./ Taft) have been named to the 2005 All-University Athletic Association men's tennis team, the conference announced today. Additionally, Head Coach Marty Perry and Assistant Coach Eric Mahone were cited as the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year. Reckess earned second-team honors at fifth singles after posting a 2-0 mark at the 2005 UAA Championships on Apr. 15-17. He finished the regular season with a 12-5 singles record. Reckess and Tchan garnered second-team recognition at second doubles after sweeping a pair of matches at the Association championships. The tandem posted a 9-5 mark during the regular season. In his second year
at Chicago, Perry guided the Maroons to an 18-9 overall record and a third-place
finish at the UAA championship -- the Maroons' best showing since 1995. |
