For Immediate Release Ward Bortz to Compete at NCAA Division III Championship Chicago -- University of Chicago junior Ward Bortz (Brookfield, Wis./ Marquette) has been selected to participate in the singles competition at the 2005 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship. One of 32 players chosen to compete for the Division III singles crown, Bortz has compiled a 25-9 mark this season. A two-time University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week, he helped guide the Maroons to their first-ever NCAA Division III postseason appearance in 2005. Bortz reached the finals of the ITA Central Region singles championship in early October, winning six of seven matches. The NCAA Division III singles and doubles championships will be held May 21-23 at the University of California, Santa Cruz. |
