For Immediate Release Chicago Ranked Seventh in Central Region Chicago -- The University of Chicago men's tennis team was ranked seventh in the Central Region in the latest NCAA Division III poll released Friday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Chicago stands at 18-9 on the season and is coming off a third-place finish at the 2005 University Athletic Association Championship this past weekend. Junior Ward Bortz (Brookfield, Wis./ Marquette) and freshman Sasha Deriy (Bolingbrook, Ill./ IMSA) were ranked among the Central Region's top individuals. Bortz polled fifth in singles play, while the tandem of Bortz and Deriy was listed fifth in doubles. Bortz owns a 25-8 singles mark and has teamed with Deriy to notch a 16-8 record in doubles competition. |
