#20 Chicago Takes Two from Calvin

Chicago -- Sophomore pitcher Petra Wade (Batavia, Ill./ Batavia) threw a complete-game shutout and junior hurler Hannah Roberts (Scottsville, Ky./ Scottsville) posted six scoreless innings as the 20th-ranked University of Chicago softball team swept Calvin College 6-0 and 1-0 Friday at Stagg Field.

In game one, Roberts allowed just one hit over six frames in the Maroons' 6-0 win. Roberts, 11-0 on the year, fanned 10 including the 500th of her career in the third inning. Junior catcher Randi Leppla (Germantown, Ohio/ Valley View) drove in a pair of runs and scored once.

Junior designated hitter Kate Rhodes (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./ Country Day) delivered a run-scoring single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh in the Maroons' 1-0 victory in game two. Wade scattered four hits and struck out 12 as she raised her record to 7-1.

Chicago extended its winning streak to 14 games and moved to 18-1 on the season. Calvin dropped to 12-6.
