Maroons Sweep Lawrence

Chicago -- Making her final regular season appearance at Stagg Field, senior second baseman Julie Wiorkowski (Palos Park, Ill./ Stagg) drove in runs in each game as the 12th-ranked University of Chicago softball team won both halves of a doubleheader against Lawrence University on Sunday.

Wiorkowski went 2-for-3 with an RBI in game one in a 3-0 Chicago victory.

Junior pitcher Hannah Roberts (Scottsville, Ky./ Allen County-Scottsville) allowed four hits and fanned 10 to notch her 24th career shutout -- the most in school history. Roberts raised her record to 13-3 this year.

In the second game, Wiorkowski went 1-for-4 with an RBI as the Maroons defeated the Vikings 4-1.

Sophomore pitcher Petra Wade (Batavia, Ill./ Batavia) threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts as she lifted her record to 9-2.

Junior designated hitter Kate Rhodes (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./ Country Day) collected a pair of RBIs in the nightcap, giving her three on the day.

Chicago improved to 22-7 overall, while Lawrence dropped to 15-14.
