#20 Chicago Blanks UW-Oshkosh

Chicago -- Junior pitcher Hannah Roberts (Scottsville, Ky./ Allen County-Scottsville) allowed just one hit over six innings as the 20th-ranked University of Chicago softball team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 8-0 in the Maroons' 2005 home opener Wednesday at Stagg Field.

Roberts walked one batter and fanned 11 as she improved her record to 7-0 with her fourth shutout of the year. She lowered her season ERA to 0.16, having allowed only one earned run (two total) in 45.0 frames.

Freshman left fielder Dominique Marshall (Westerville, Ohio/ Columbus Girls) drove in three runs, while junior center fielder Kara Thaw (St. Louis, Mo./ Parkway West) knocked in a pair.

With their sixth consecutive victory, the Maroons improved to 10-1 on the year. UW-Oshkosh dropped to 6-6.

Wednesday's second game was suspended after four innings with the Maroons leading 2-1.
