Kelly Ostler Named All-American

Chicago -- University of Chicago senior softball player Kelly Ostler (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) was named to the 2002 NCAA Division III All-America Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

A third team All-America selection for the second straight year, Ostler was chosen as a utility player (pitcher and infielder). In 2002, she was 11-7 with a 0.66 earned run average with 180 strikeouts in 126.2 innings. She posted eight shutouts and allowed an opponent batting average of .152. Ostler also batted .389 with 12 runs scored and 11 runs batted in.

A four-time All-Great Lakes Region pick, Ostler finished her career in second place on the all-time NCAA Division III strikeout ratio chart with 10.6 per game. She collected 689 career strikeouts, which ranks seventh in Division III history.

During Ostler's career, the Maroons made two NCAA Division III postseason appearances (2000, 2001) and compiled an overall record of 92-49-3 (.649). Chicago posted a 17-19 mark in 2002.
