For Immediate Release February 15, 2003 Swimmers Take Eighth at UAA Championships Cleveland, Ohio -- The University of Chicago men's and women's swimming teams both finished in eighth place at the 2003 University Athletic Association Championships held Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 13-15, at Case Western Reserve University. Junior Joe Nagy (Budapest, Hungary/ American International) turned in the top performance for the men's team as he earned All-UAA honors in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.53 seconds, which was good for an NCAA Division III provisional-qualifying mark. In the women's competition, three Chicago swimmers posted top-eight efforts. Sophomore Emily Testa (Evanston, Ill./ Evanston) placed sixth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:45.92) and eighth in the 200-yard IM (2:16.99). Junior Emma Eriksson (Wellesley, Mass./ Wellesley) and freshman Kathleen Meil (Lisle, Ill./ St. Francis) also recorded eighth-place finishes, Eriksson in the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.84) and Meil in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.98). Emory University and Washington University captured first and second place, respectively, in both the men's and women's team standings.
