For Immediate Release November 25, 2002 Swimmers Take Sixth, Eighth at Washington Invite St. Louis, Mo. -- The University of Chicago women's and men's swimming teams placed sixth and eighth, respectively, at the Washington University Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23-24. In the women's competition, three Chicago swimmers posted top-eight finishes in their respective events. Junior Emma Eriksson (Wellesley, Mass./ Wellesley) took top honors in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.03) and placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.89), third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.30), and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (:57.99). Sophomore Emily Testa (Evanston, Ill./ Evanston) was the runner-up in the 200- and 400-yard individual medley (2:19.11/4:52.80) and finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.29) and 200-yard freestyle (2:03.34). Sophomore Erin Lyons (Potomac, Md./ Churchill) placed eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:35.68). In the men's event, freshman Dan Timke (St. Peters, Mo./ Francis Howell) placed fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.63.
