Maroons Take Three of Four at Dominican Invite

River Forest, Ill. -- Junior libero Tracie Kenyon (Sunnyvale, Calif./ St. Francis) became the school's career digs leader, and junior outside hitter Erica Pettke (Sussex, Wis./ Divine Savior Holy Angels) earned all-tournament honors and as the University of Chicago volleyball team won three of four matches at the season-opening Dominican (Ill.) University Invitational Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Chicago fell to the Illinois Institute of Technology 30-22, 30-23, 23-30, 30-26 before defeating Wheaton (Ill.) College 30-19, 30-26, 32-30. In Saturday's action, the Maroons took two matches from host Dominican, winning 23-30, 30-20, 18-30, 30-27, 15-12 and 30-17, 27-30, 30-28, 30-25.

Kenyon collected 87 digs in the four matches, giving her a school record 1,098 for her career. She had 24 digs in each of Friday's contests.

Pettke hit 18 kills and posted a .358 hitting percentage in Saturday's final match.

Other individual highlights included junior outside hitter Katie Meinhover's (Ottertail, Minn./ Perham) 18 kills against Dominican in Saturday's first match and 13 kills against Wheaton on Friday.

Also on Saturday, junior setter Tracie Wescott (Lansing, Ill./ Thornton South) registered 56 assists in the day's final match, while freshman middle hitter Koryn Kendall (Napa, Calif./ Vintage) posted hitting percentages of .313 and .417 in the two contests.
