Chicago Defeats North Park in Invitational Opener

Chicago -- Sophomore outside hitter Katie Meinhover (Ottertail, Minn./ Perham) hit 15 kills and sophomore middle hitter Emma Hamilton (Washington, D.C./ National Cathedral) contributed 13 to lead the University of Chicago volleyball team to a 30-26, 30-21, 30-20 win over North Park University on the first night of the Maroon Invitational Friday evening at the Henry Crown Field House.

Meinhover also finished with 11 digs, two aces, and pair of blocks for Chicago (3-12), which snapped a nine-match losing skid. Hamilton, who hit at a .458 clip, registered five blocks in addition to her 13 kills.

Sophomore outside hitter Tracie Kenyon (Sunnyvale, Calif./ St. Francis) and sophomore libero Erica Pettke (Sussex, Wis./ Divine Savior Holy Angels) collected 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

In Friday's other matches, Trinity International University defeated Dominican University 30-20, 22-30, 30-17, 30-22 and Kendall College 33-31, 30-19, 30-27. Kendall defeated North Park 34-32, 30-15, 30-20.

On Saturday, Chicago will face Trinity International at 9:00 a.m., and Kendall at 11:00 a.m.
